Bratislava-based company plans to generate electricity from biofuels


The Braitislava-based company Cheneco plans to invest €60 million in construction of two power facilities. The new cogeneration units should generate electricity and steam from biofuels, the SITA newswire reported.

The firm informed that they have already submitted the projects for Environment Impact Assessment (EIA). The construction of the cogeneration units should be launched this year and they should be completed in 2011.

The company also plans to build a cogeneration unit which would generate power from recovered waste heat at the plant of Kovohuty Krompachy. The project is waiting for a construction permit.

Cheneco released as well plans to erect a biogas power plant in Leopoldov, in which it plans to invest €15 million. The new facility should have installed capacity of 3.6 MW. Biofuel will be a mixture of woodchips and rapeseed grit. The biogas power plant will be located on the site of the distillery Slovenske Liehovary a Likerky.

€16m in investment incentives okayed


SLOVAKIA will provide investment incentives of €16 million to five companies. The cabinet approved incentives for Pasivhaus Modul Systeme, Monocrystalex, Sapa Profily, Stawi, and SKH Plastic at its session on May 12, the SITA newswire reported.

The incentives were approved in the form of tax relief, assistance in acquiring fixed assets, and incentives for job creation. In total, these investments should create 468 new jobs.

Pasivhaus Modul Systeme intends to build a production plant to manufacture construction elements in the village of Tona for €13.3 million. Monocrystalex plants to invest €7 million into production premises and new innovative technologies to widen production of non-metal mineral products in its existing plant in Medzilaborce.

Sapa Profily, a producer of pressed aluminium profiles, plans to widen existing production in Žiar nad Hronom and thus increase output of products with higher added value. Stawi will invest in the expansion of existing production by building a new production facility and new technology.

SKH Plastic plans to build a new factory to make plastics and metal products for the electro-technical and automotive industries in the village of Matúškovo.
